I realise that there are many versions of this traditional spiritual song. I have arranged
several versions of the piece and this particular one was performed at The Royal
Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2018 and features solo bagpipe, solo voice and children’s
choir. We also used a full orchestra for the arrangement so all the string parts are included
in the piece.
The music travels through various keys to accommodate the vocals and choir and then
returns to Eb for the bagpipes to join in en-masse ending with a rousing finish.
This is a real “Show stopper” all over the world.
