On October 28th 2014, The Royal Marines Celebrated their 350th anniversary. To
mark the event, they commissioned two marches to be composed, a quick march and
a slow march. Both marches were advertised in worldwide competitions and
Commando Spirit was the winner of the quick march section.
The piece is now a regular addition to concerts and marching displays by wind
ensembles throughout the world and as you would expect, has several thematic
musical references to The Royal Marines.
